I am Setsuna is a throwback to older RPG titles like Chrono Trigger, but it stands on its own. A poetic snow-themed setting with melancholy piano music in the background, it tells the story of a destined fate girl. Playing this smaller scale, lackluster turn-based RPG somehow reset my aesthetic fatigue towards bigger titles. I like the settings, the theme, the story and characters, the music—all cooked nicely. Let’s take the time to appreciate the beauty of the game from a small studio.
