Democratic congressman Joe Courtney took to the US House of Representatives, attacking a tariff announcement on steel and aluminium from Donald Trump. Courtney highlighted the $800m downpayment Australia has just given the US for the Aukus submarine deal, just two days before the tariff announcement. Courtney – who co-chairs the friends of Australia caucus and has been an advocate of the Aukus agreement – calls the announcement an 'insult'
